Russian Strikes on Zaporizhzhia Residential Area Leave One Dead and Several Injured

Russian forces struck Zaporizhzhia on the morning of Friday, October 9

A series of strikes was made on the Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia early Friday morning, Oct. 9, by the Russian forces. The attack started about 5:15 a.m. Kyiv time and was particularly focused on a residential area. At least one civilian was killed during the bombardments, said Zaporizhya Regional Military Administration—an authority under the Office of the President of Ukraine—that made the first announcement of the victims’ deaths.

Authorities said at first a single apartment building was affected with one person injured. But as the first responders of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine arrived to secure the area and help the victims, the number of victims continued to grow. Later, Semikin clarified that Russian forces fired six times over the city; once near a multi-story apartment house and once near an extracurricular education facility.

The Zaporizhzhia Regional Defense Council has announced that seven people had been injured, after the initial rescue efforts. The armed invasion of civilian territories remains well documented and taken up by the national authorities, such as Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

The attack on Friday morning comes after a serious spike in the area over the last week. On October 7, Russian troops attacked a transport infrastructure facility in the city of Zaporizhzhia, which local authorities subsequently shut down a part of the road network because of. This follows general updates on combat from the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, which indicate a clear change in the combat strategy used by the adversary.

Russian troops used aerial bombs against the city in force for the third day in a row on October 8. In addition, the military analysts and representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine pointed out that the invading army now deliberately targets bridges and important transport routes,
