The fifth edition of the Kurdish Cultural Festival in Paris was held from Friday, May 29th – Sunday, May 31st.
The festival, organised by the CDK-F (Conseil Démocratique Kurde en France) and in collaboration with the Danielle Mitterrand Foundation, the City of Paris, the 10th Arrondissement Town Hall, the France-Kurdistan Solidarity Association, the Institute for Reflection and Studies on Kurdistan (IREK) and the Kurdish Arts and Culture Association (ACK), provided a three-day immersion into a cultural heritage that is as rich as it is diverse.
This event had been gaining popularity throughout the years and became the biggest event of the Kurdish cultural scene in France. It was conducted in Paris and the Paris area and sought to improve, protect, and disseminate a culture that was at risk, and celebrate one of the oldest peoples in Mesopotamia. It had real exposure to cultural diversity and was a reminder of the need for safeguarding these cultural assets.
Some of the most significant events of the fifth edition were folk performance, exhibitions, children’s activities, theatre and cinema. The festival wrapped up with an outstanding concert where prestigious Kurdish musicians, who have a wide range of musical backgrounds, performed: Işık Berfîn, Murad Demir and Ulaş Kelaşîn.
