Iranian Drone and Missile Attack Shuts Down Kuwait International Airport

Early Wednesday morning, an Iranian drone and missile attack damaged infrastructure, resulting in multiple injuries and diverting incoming flights at Kuwait’s international airport.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation said that all commercial flights have been suspended after the strike. Hostile drones have precisely targeted the airport’s T1 passenger building, resulting in material damage and wounding of several people on the premises, according to the Ministry of Defense of Kuwait.

Escalating Regional Conflict and Interceptions

The clash at the airport is set to be the latest in a series of fast-paced escalating engagements between Iranian and American forces. Heavy missile firing was exchanged between the two countries on late Tuesday. The U.S. Department of Defense announced Thursday it had hit an Iranian military facility on the Qeshm Island following Tehran’s ballistic missile firing toward Kuwait and Bahrain.

American forces successfully repelled several incoming threats, according to U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM). Two Iranian missiles that were targeted at Kuwait missed or failed to reach the target while flying were noted, officials said. Meanwhile, three missiles and some drones attacking civilian infrastructure in Bahrain were intercepted successfully by the combined force of American and Bahrain defence systems. All Iranian ballistic missiles that were fired at neighbors in the region missed, CENTCOM said.

The Bahrain Defence Force strongly condemned the coordinated strikes as an “outrageous breach of international law”. The military said that the attack was a part of Tehran’s “systematic aggression,” and that their air defense forces had quickly repelled the incoming threats. The army said it is still fully equipped to defend the kingdom and to safeguard its land against any other assault.
