The Delhi Police executed a major multi-state counter-terrorism operation which succeeded in dismantling a radical group that operated a terrorist network linked to the 2025 Red Fort bombing. The recent crackdown resulted in the arrest of four young men who created online content to radicalize others while they participated in ‘jihad’ recruitment and terrorist attack planning activities.
The suspects are believed to have direct ties to the previous attack at the historic monument which tragically claimed 11 lives and left several others injured.
Online Radicalization and Foiled Attack Plans
The Special Cell found out that the group used encrypted social media channels as their main communication method during their investigation work. The members of the group distributed extremist materials while they told their supporters to gather weapons and explosives for their Ghazwa-e-Hind operations which included sharing banking information to support their illegal activities.
Authorities discovered mobile phones which contained evidence and materials needed to create improvised explosive devices (IEDs). The two suspects were actively procuring local materials which included ball bearings and nails and modified toy cars to build remote-controlled explosives for upcoming attacks.
The group had already conducted reconnaissance on highly sensitive targets. In December 2025, one of the accused visited the historic site managed by the Archaeological Survey of India and shared an image of a black flag hoisted over the Red Fort to incite others online. The module planned to attack military sites and Ram Mandir and Parliament of India.
