Yemen Forces Claim Over 1,400 Houthi Fighters Killed in 24 Hours

The Yemen government forces have claimed in Operation Dawn of Yemen that they neutralised over 1,400 Houthis in more than 2,750 strikes in the last 24 hours.

The attack aimed at the Houthis’ forces on various fronts, said Gen. Majed Abdullah al-Nadhib, spokesman of the Yemeni Armed Forces, on the US social media platform X, Anadolu Agency reported.

The targets were fortifications and defence places, forward observation and reconnaissance places, artillery places, depots of weapons and ammunition, facilities for supplies and military reinforcements, according to al-Nadhib.

The operations also targeted “high value military assets deep in Houthi-controlled territory,” he added.

According to the preliminary battlefield assessments, over 1,400 Houthis have been “neutralised,” the spokesman said.

He also revealed that more than two hundred military vehicles, weapons and equipment have been destroyed and damaged.

The operations have dented the Houthis’ manoeuvrability, ability to provide support and sustain combat activities, Al-Nadhib said.

He also said that the government ground troops have broken the Houthis’ defensive lines and fortifications and regained “strategically important” positions and consolidated their territory.

The government forces were still pushing as per their plans, the spokesman said.

Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad al-Alimi said Monday that the military campaign, dubbed Operation Dawn of Yemen, has been launched.

The operation was aimed at reclaiming the capital Sanaa and restoring state institutions and ending Houthi control, Al-Alimi said.

Since the Houthis took control of Sanaa in September 2014, Yemen has been consumed by conflict, and a Saudi-led coalition has intervened in March 2015 on the side of the internationally recognised government.
