Next month, the provincial city of Wonju will host its annual cultural festival with people from all over the world coming in to share food, games and other activities, organisers said on 20th August.

In its fourth iteration, the festival (WOW Festival) will be held in September. At Wonju Dancing Performance Hall, in Gangwon Province, there are stalls of traditional games, clothes, food, and cultural programs from various parts of the world.

Food booths and food trucks will serve food from French, German, Hawaiian, Italian and North Korean cuisines, and other programs will present traditional Korean culture. 

Guests can also participate in various hands-on craft programmes like gem soap making, key ring making, plaster clay art, resin crafts, sugar candy or dalgona making, bead bracelet making and hanji crafts. There will be other activities such as airbrush tattoos and more.

Launched in 2023, the festival aims to give locals an opportunity to experience different cultures and promote greater mutual understanding.

The festival is being organised by Lee Ji-hee, who said that she hoped it would provide visitors with an opportunity to observe the various traditions and learn more about cultural differences.
