The U.S. is said to be keen on inviting Russian President Vladimir Putin to the upcoming G20 summit. This December, it is planned to be held in high-level international meeting in Miami, Florida, USA, hosted by USA.

Russia’s Ambassador-at-Large, Marat Berdyev of the Russian Foreign Ministry, said the situation with Washington was clear. Trump has made it clear on several occasions that he sees Putin’s appearance at the summit as a huge plus, he said.

In addition, Berdyev said the American sherpa team had made a similar message of welcome directly to their Russian counterparts via official diplomatic channels. 

The Need for Global Dialogue

Washington, Berdyev said, is acting out of “rational logic” instead of simply politeness. The upcoming summit would be a crucial forum for leaders from around the globe to share their views and work on intricate global issues,” he said.

The ambassador said it is impossible to efficiently achieve efficient management of global risks and global crises without Russia’s active participation in these discussions. His words underscore a persistent need for face-to-face talks between great powers.

Although there are hopeful indications from the United States, Moscow has not yet provided a definitive response on the December event. Berdyev explained that the Russian government had yet to officially decide on the extent of its involvement in the Miami summit.
