The national weather centre in China on 11th July raised the highest alert in its four-level system to warn of a rainstorm, as Typhoon Bavi is forecast to hit the eastern coast of China early Sunday.

The National Meteorological Centre issued a warning that there were areas across the country that may experience heavy to extreme rainfall.

According to the forecast, torrential rains will continue to pour down upon vast areas of the nation within 24 hours up until 2 pm Sunday, and those areas include Zhejiang, northern Fujian, the north of Jiangxi, southern Anhui, parts of Beijing and Hebei.

The highest accumulated rainfall may be 250 to 500 mm in parts of eastern and southern Zhejiang and northern Fujian, and 250 to 800 mm in parts of central and northern Taiwan Island, said the National Observatory.
