With armed conflict continuing to break out across the Middle East, Pakistan has stated that it is actively involved in the process of de-escalation by saying that negotiations between the United States and Iran are underway.

In a press conference in the capital, Pakistani Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said the discussions are extremely centered on securing Strait of Hormuz and lowering regional conflicts overall.

Islamabad has said it is making “utmost efforts” to get Tehran and Washington, backed by the White House, back to full negotiations “on the basis of the previous memorandum of understanding (MOU)”. This is a specific pact to which Pakistan is a party, to which the sole purpose was to end the war between the two countries.

We are doing our best to get them all back to the Islamabad MOU,” Andrabi reiterated. The mediating country is urging both to “fully honor their commitment to technical talks” in the original agreement, he added.
