Kazakhstan Cinema Days Set to Begin in Paris

In Paris, the Days of Culture of Kazakhstan in France were launched with Kazakhstan Cinema Days, which will showcase classic and contemporary films in the French language from 17 to 19 September, reports Qazinform News Agency. 

 

The first film is the Kazakhstani movie Alpamys Goes to School, which was directed by the famous Kazakhstani director Abdolla Karsakbayev, the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan states. The movie will be played in a restored 4K version, and the screening will coincide with the 100th anniversary of the film’s director’s birth. 

 

The program features contemporary Kazakhstani cinema: Qaitadan and Igromanka. The two movies were state-funded.

 

The Days of Kazakhstan Cinema is a project that provides an overview of various periods in the history of Kazakhstan’s national film industry, from acknowledged classics to the most recent productions of a new generation of filmmakers.

 

The program also has creative meetings of Kazakhstani filmmakers with the French audience. The meetings have been organised to encourage professional and cultural exchange between Kazakhstan and France. 

 

Previously, Qazinform reported that the shooting for an international film project, ‘Jamilya in Paris’, between Kazakhstan and France, was officially commenced in Paris.
