Jaish Terrorists Killed in Udhampur, One Detained in Jammu

On Thursday (September 17th, 2026), two Pakistani Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists were killed, and a suspect was arrested during an anti-terror operation in the district of Udhampur in Jammu division.

The Jammu & Kashmir police identified the two dead terrorists as Saddam and Mustafa. ”An AK assault rifle (with four magazines), M4 carbine (with three magazines), a Glock pistol (with two magazines), and four grenades have been recovered from them,” said the police.

The Army added it had initiated ‘Operation Sohan’ in the wee hours of the night on 16-17 September after receiving “confirmed inputs” about the presence of terrorists in Brattal, Udhampur.

The Army said a counter-terrorism operation was launched by White Knight Corps, J&K Police and CRPF troops of the Army despite “difficult terrain, poor visibility and bad weather conditions”, which led to the neutralisation of two terrorists.

Later, the bodies of the two terrorists were found in an area of heavy cover and hilly ground. There was some questioning of the arrested man.

The Army said that the operation is ongoing and search and surveillance operations are still underway in the area, while the security forces were deployed to monitor and neutralise any trace of threat.

In a related development, J&K Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat directed the attachment of property of “notorious terrorists” who are operating in Pakistan.

The attached properties are in total 15 kanals of land and two residential houses of Abdul Majid Qureshi and Parvaiz Ahmad Qureshi of Kupwara district.

The police said that the properties are in the name of the terrorists and are ‘proceeds of terrorism’ under UAPA Section 2 (1) (g) (ii) and can be attached in FIR No. 276/22 of Police Station Kupwara.
