Instagram has decided to change its name from ‘AI creator’ to ‘AI-generated profile‘ for profiles created using AI to ensure that users are aware when the profile contains an AI-generated person. 

If a profile doesn’t have the label, Instagram will restrict the visibility of such profiles that have AI-generated people. The label can be added in the creator’s profile settings. If you use it of your own accord, you won’t be able to see the difference in your reach. 

The platform assures creators that they don’t have to add the profile label if they just use AI tools as a part of their creative process. 

Instagram may deactivate profiles that are not labelled and are detected by the app. Creators can regain eligibility to be recommended by adding the AI-suggested profile label or by appealing the decision in Account Status.

The update will provide users with greater clarity on whether the content of a profile is AI-generated.
