Are you ready to show your film in Cinemalaya? Then get your films submitted in Cinemalaya Film Category. The deadline for submission of entries for the 2027 edition of the Philippines Independent Film Festival (PIFF) will be on or before 6 p.m. on Sept. 17, 2026 (Thursday).

Interested applicants should visit this website on the internet and provide the following requirements: concept paper of the film project containing the premises of the film, genre, tagline, key characters and description in Filipino or English; two (2) page synopsis/storyline of the film project; resume of the proponent/s; two (2) recent picture of the proponent/s; and a sample of the film work of the proponent.

Only 3 entries per participant will be accepted. One entry will be considered as a Proponent’s final entry, however. If a work is in principle photography or post-production before Aug. 2026, it is disqualified (except for documentaries).

As of October 17th, the Cinemalaya Competition Committee will choose 30 strong entries, from which the authors will be invited to a pitching session on Oct. 31 to present the projects. The first 20 entries will be whittled down to those whose proponents will attend the Cinemalaya Film Lab film laboratory and mentorship program from Nov. 2026 to Jan. 2027.

The Competition Committee will select the 10 finalists of the Cinemalaya 2027 Main Competition from the film lab and mentorship program of the Cinemalaya Institute.

The 10 finalists will be showcased at the festival from 5th to 17th August 2027 at selected cinemas.
