Security forces on 18th August have claimed to have killed at least nine terrorists in separate intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in different parts of Balochistan.
In Ziarat, Harnai and Surab districts, the operations were carried out under Operation Rad-ul-Fitna-3, security sources said.
After a tip-off, a large-scale IBO was conducted in the mountainous region between Ziarat and Harnai, security sources said.
The terrorists’ hideout was surrounded during the operation, resulting in the killing of eight terrorists, while the hideout was also destroyed, they added.
Security sources say they killed one terrorist in another operation in the village of Hajika in Soorab district.
The operations were carried out following security forces’ tracking of the activities of terrorists in the movement between Dasht Katai and Hajika areas, sources said.
Security officials say the dead terrorists were found with an arsenal of ammunition, magazines, hand grenades, walkie-talkies and other equipment.
The operations will continue uninterrupted till complete eradication of terrorism and the establishment of lasting peace, security sources said.
The operations follow an IBO in the Killi Zaik area of Balochistan, where two terrorists and three others were killed by security forces yesterday.
Seven terrorists who were supporting the Indian army were killed in an IBO in Kharan district a day earlier.
Since the Afghan Taliban’s takeover in 2021, Pakistan has seen a rise in terror attacks, especially in the KP and Balochistan provinces.
A report from the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) shows that the two provinces continued to be the major areas of violence in the country in the second quarter of 2026, with KP being the worst-hit province.
The two provinces accounted for almost 96% of the total violence-related deaths in the quarter, the report said. The majority of the deaths were reported in KP (475, over 61%) and Balochistan (265, 34%).
KP also reported the most violent incidents (151), accounting for 57% of the country total. Balochistan, with 94 incidents (35%), highlighted the focus of militant activities in the two provinces.
