Pakistan to Host Crucial Turkey-Saudi-Egypt Talks on Middle East War

As diplomatic contacts increase, Pakistan will host Saudi Arabian, Turkey and Egypt in the war in the Middle East, officials announced on 28th March.

The foreign ministry of Pakistan announced that the ministers will convene in Islamabad on Sunday and Monday, to hold a “proper discussion” on various issues, including trying to calm the tension.

Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will host the talks, and a meeting will also be held with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Sharif calls with the Iranian president

In a pre-meeting statement, Sharif reported that he had made an extensive, over-hour-long telephone call to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

He stated that he denounced Israeli attacks on Iran and quoted his sympathies to its people and also described that Pakistan had diplomatic contacts with the United States and the nations around the region in an attempt to promote dialogue.

A statement by the office of Sharif cited that Pezeshinan emphasised the importance of developing trust in order to facilitate the mediation process.

Discussions are made after broader diplomatic outreach

The Islamabad conference was set to be the first organised in TURkiye, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said.

The Foreign Minister of Germany, Johann Wadephul, told the press he believed a US-Iran meeting to be imminent in Pakistan, but no information was verified.

Iran has also made a response to a US proposal through Islamabad, reportedly, although Iran has formally denied direct negotiations with Washington.

The meeting of regional forces in Islamabad is an event held at a time of existing attempts to decrease the tension and avoid the further development of the conflict.
