The folk music concert was held at the ancient Roman Hippodrome in Jerash, courtesy of a Chinese arts delegation organised by the China Cultural Centre in Amman and the Hainan Province Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television and Sports.

The show included traditional Chinese instruments, such as erhu, bamboo flute, suona, pipa and intangible cultural heritages like nose flutes and leaf-blowing music.

An accompanying exhibition at the international cultural area of the festival introduced the intangible cultural heritage of Hainan, such as coconut-shell carving, grass weaving, collage art and traditional stone-rubbing techniques.

The Jerash Festival was established in 1981 to encourage cultural exchange between performers from all over the world in Jerash, the ancient Roman city.

The performance involved traditional Chinese instruments such as the erhu, bamboo flute, suona and pipa, as well as intangible cultural heritage like the nose-flute performance and the music of the leaf blower.

A parallel exhibition at the international cultural space during the festival also introduced the intangible cultural heritages of Hainan, such as carving on coconut shells, making grass mats, collage and traditional stone rubbing.
