Ukraine Hits Key Pipeline Supplying Russian Oil to Hungary and Slovakia, Sources Say

Ukraine struck the Druzhba oil pipeline in the central Tambov area of Russia, a source in the GUR military intelligence of Ukraine wrote on 3rd December.

The fifth Ukrainian attack on the Russian oil pipeline that supplies Russia to Hungary and Slovakia, according to Reuters.

Hungary and Slovakia still purchase energy resources from Russia despite the rest of the European Union countries breaking their ties after its invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

According to Ukrainian media, the attack was carried out with remotely controlled explosives.

Later on Wednesday, the Slovak pipeline operator and the Hungarian oil and gas company reported that the oil supply by Druzhba was not impaired. Russia had no remarks to make.

Ukraine has assaulted the pipeline on a single occasion in March, two occasions in August, and one occasion in September this year.

Kyiv reports that its attacks on energy infrastructure in response to further Russian attacks on Ukraine are to cripple the overall war effort of Moscow.
