On the visit, Colonel General Karim Valiyev, the First Deputy Minister of Defense and Chief of the General Staff of Azerbaijan Army, received meetings with the Department of the Prime Minister and Minister of State on the Affairs of the Defence of Qatar, his excellence Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan bin Ali Al Thani and the Chief of Staff of the Qatar Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Jassim bin Mohammed Al Mannai.

According to the report of The Caspian Post, the Ministry of Defence of Azerbaijan said that the meetings focused on the significance of DIMDEX 2026 in regard to developing the maritime defence sector of the countries.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the State of Qatar, Adish Mammadov, was also present.

The sides were optimistic that the military relations would keep evolving in the future. They talked about the possibilities of developing cooperation in the military and military-technical sphere between Azerbaijan and Qatar, the necessity to conduct joint military exercises, and extensively discussed the positions on a number of other issues of mutual interest.
