During the Chinese New Year holiday, tourist arrivals to Beijing reached 8.808 million while tourist receipts amounted to 10.97 billion yuan (approximately 1.56 billion USD), according to the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism on 3rd January.
The Chinese New Year holiday starts from Thursday through Saturday. The holiday featured a range of integrated activities in culture and tourism arranged by Beijing.
As regards the performance market, Beijing presented a total of 275 commercial performances over the past three-day holidays, with more than 200,000 viewers and more than 76 million yuan in box office sales.
During the holiday periods, the bureau identified more than 70 key activities and published a New Year cultural and tourism activity map, providing residents and visitors an overall guide on activities during the holidays.
At the same time, 30 themed routes have been added, with which tourists can fully explore Beijing in winter in a new way. The public cultural institutions in Beijing have arranged a total of 395 public cultural activities, attracting more than 340,000 participants.
As stated by the Beijing Municipal Commerce Bureau, key monitored enterprises doing business in areas such as department stores, supermarkets, specialized stores, restaurants, and e-commerce in Beijing amounted to 4.04 billion yuan.
