President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will today June 21 2025, attend the West Africa Economic Summit (WAES) at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja the assembles today and tomorrow, before the 67th Ordinary Summit of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) on Sunday June 22 at the State House Conference Centre Abuja.
WAES is an initiative announced by President Tinubu as Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, and is the first of its type meant to strengthen economic connectivity and increase trade and investment in West Africa. Several West African Heads of State have confirmed their attendance at the summit, including the Presidents of our neighbouring countries Ghana, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Senegal, The Gambia, Benin, Togo and Guinea-Bissau.
Summit participants include a highly diverse gathering from across the West African region, including:
- Ministers of Finance, Trade, Infrastructure and Foreign Affairs from ECOWAS Member States; and
- Representatives from regional financial and trade (WAMA, WAMI, EBID, UEMOA, and AfCFTA) organisations and bodies.
- Important representatives of the private sector, development agencies, and policy think tanks

In a welcome flavour of inclusive dialogue, President Tinubu invited member states of the Alliance of Sahelian States and Mauritania. The invitations were delivered in person by a delegation led by Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs. Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, the President’s Senior Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs and International Relations, accompanied the delegation.
