President Mamady Doumbouya removed the government of Guinea, which was headed by transitional Prime Minister Amadou Oury Bah, the news portal Guinee 360 reported.
It is indicated in the news portal that the president has asked the secretaries general of the ministries to proceed with the management of their departments until the appointment of a new government. The new cabinet leader and his or her members are expected to be announced soon.
The resignation of the government was almost one week after the election of Doumbouya as the president of Guinea, after winning the election on December 28 last year. The Guinean presidential term is seven years.
Since it overthrew President Alpha Conde in a coup that took place in September 2021, Doumbouya came to power. The new constitution that was adopted in a nationwide referendum led to the December elections. Soon, Parliamentary elections are likely to take place, which will finish the transition of the country to the civilian government.
