At least 13 terrorists were shot down by security forces in two intelligence-led operations conducted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the military media arm announced on 1st April.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), two intelligence-based operations were carried out in the Khyber District’s Bara area and Bannu on the reported presence of the terrorists.
During the conduct of operation in the general area Bara, the ISPR said, security forces “effectively engaged khwarijs’ location and after an intense fire exchange, 10 khwarij were [killed]”.
The success of another intelligence-led operation was in Bannu District, where three terrorists were successfully countered.
The ISPR declared that “Sanitisation operations are in progress to eliminate any other kharji funded by other Indians in the region saying that the intensive Counter Terrorism operation under the name of Vision Azm-e-Istehkam will carry on at full throttle to root out the menace of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism in the country.”
As of 2021, the cross-border terrorist activities have drastically risen in Pakistan, mainly affecting KP and Balochistan, which border on Afghanistan, after the Afghan Taliban seized power in Afghanistan.
Pakistan started Operation Ghazab lil-Haq in the midst of the increasing terror attacks against the country, in which an estimated 684 Afghan Taliban agents and militants were killed.
Over 900 Afghan Taliban members have also been wounded, Pakistan has also destroyed 252 checkposts, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar confirmed today.
The two countries, back in October 2025, were also engaged in border clashes after the Afghan Taliban and militants launched unprovoked attacks against Pakistan’s border posts.
The subsequent confrontations resulted in the deaths of more than 200 Taliban and allied militants, and 23 Pakistani soldiers were killed defending the motherland.
However, despite many rounds of talks, both countries failed to reach an agreement due to the Afghan Taliban regime’s reluctance to take action against terrorist outfits.
