Pakistan hosts defence meet with US, Central Asian countries

On Saturday, Pakistan held a high-profile defence conference in Islamabad attended by military chiefs from the United States, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan marked with an emphasis on counterterrorism cooperation, joint training and regional military diplomacy.

The conference’s focus was “Strengthening Bonds, Securing Peace.” As per the official military statement, the purpose of the gathering was to build mutual trust and facilitate better coordination against common security challenges.

An Anadolu Agency report stated that participating countries publicly praised Pakistan’s leadership in convening a timely and strategic defence conference. The report also states that participants felt the initiative was tremendously important in contributing to peace, security, and cooperation in an area long associated with terrorism and instability.
