Odesa Attack Foiled: SSU Stops Russian Agent’s Deadly Power Equipment Bomb Plot

Ukraine Security Service indicated on April 1 that it prevented an intended assault in Odesa by detaining a Russian agent and defusing an explosive device that she was going to blow herself up under a truck loaded with equipment to repair a heating facility.

The woman installed a homemade bomb under a truck and had intended to blow it up with the help of two cell phones attached to the bomb.

The suspect came to Odesa following the orders of the Russian security agencies, rented an apartment, prepared the explosive and placed it in a metal container, the authorities claimed. The SBU preemptively disarmed the device and arrested the woman.

The agency states that the detainee is a Chernivtsi resident who was recruited through Telegram by Russian security services.

During search operations, she was seized with components to make bombs and other pieces of evidence of cooperation with the occupying forces.

She was informed by the investigators that she was suspected, as outlined in Part 2 of Article 15 and Part 2 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (attempted terrorist act). She is already in custody without the right to bail and faces up to 12 years in prison with property confiscation.
