The Israeli military stated that it hit Yemeni military targets associated with the country’s Houthis in Sanaa on 25th September, a day after the group claimed responsibility for a drone attack on a hotel in Israel’s Red Sea resort of Eilat.
The Houthi general staff command headquarters, security and intelligence compounds, and military bases were among the targets hit by the Israeli air force, the military said in a statement.
“We have now administered a devastating blow on many terror targets of the Houthi terror organization in Sanaa”, Israel’s defence minister, Israel Katz, wrote in a post on X.
The attacks are the latest in over a year of back-and-forth attacks and counterattacks between Houthi rebels in Yemen and Israel as part of a spillover from the Gaza war.
Local residents in Yemen reported to Reuters that the attacks were aimed at the south and western districts of Sanaa.
The attacks came as a pre-recorded address by Houthi leader Abdul Malik al-Houthi was being broadcast.
At least 20 were wounded on Wednesday when a drone fired from Yemen struck an Eilat hotel in Israel’s Red Sea resort city, the Israeli ambulance service reported.
