Israel speaking to multiple countries about ‘resettlement of Palestinians’

The crisis is Gaza has been raging on for almost a couple of years. International outrage about Israel’s continued military operation in the territory is rising and it appears Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has his focus on something else these days.

Israel is speaking to multiple countries about taking in Palestinians displaced by the conflict in Gaza. The countries part of these discussions include, South Sudan, Somaliland, Libya, Indonesia and Ethiopia, CNN has been informed.

In exchange for taking in some of the constantly attacked Gaza Strip’s population of more than 2 million people, as per a senior Israeli official, the countries are demanding “significant financial and international compensation.”

The plan is “not pushing out” Palestinians: Netanyahu

It is completely unclear if any of these reported discussions are going to come to fruition. But Israeli PM Netanyahu has repeatedly backed the idea of resettling displaced Palestinians in other countries, especially after US President Donald Trump floated the idea some time back.

But just as Trump appears to be cooling on that proposal, Israel continues to embrace it. Speaking to i24 just recently, the Israeli leader noted that the plan is “not pushing out” Palestinians but instead to let the population leave.

The comments come as international alarm in relation to Israel’s stated plan to take complete control of Gaza rages. The brutal conflict ignited back on October 7, 2023, as Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israeli cities, killing many people and taking numerous others hostages.
