It has been reported that the Donald Trump administration’s latest choice for co-deputy director of the FBI, Mr Bailey, brings more legal and managerial experience than Dan Bongino, the current Deputy Director.
Missouri’s attorney general Bailey has highlighted that his focus is on “protecting the Constitution”. But Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois, the top Democrat on the Judiciary Committee, and other critics are not happy about the situation.
People are alleging that Bailey’s 2-year tenure as the attorney general has been highly political and that he has a history of aiding President Trump politically. Trump is appointing a partisan politician, said the top Senate Democrat.
Pam Bondi praises Bailey’s “leadership and commitment”
“Mr. Bailey is another Trump loyalist’,” Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois, alleging that he has continuously peddled the ‘Big Lie’, that the 2020 election is stolen. This appointment is being closely monitored by all across the globe.
Pam Bondi, the attorney general, has praised Bailey for his “expertise and dedication” in a statement. He noted that Mr Bailey’s “leadership and commitment” are going to be a tremendous asset for the country.
But Democrats and the editorial board of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch are not happy about the situation. Bailey is expected to take his role in early September. NBC has reported that Trump had considered Bailey as a potential nominee for attorney general or FBI Director.
