Indonesia Supersedes Culture in Chile’s Fiesta de Nations

Indonesia participated in the Festival of the Nations (Fiesta de las Naciones), the cultural event organized in São Paulo, Municipality of Las Condes, Parque Araucano, Chile, for the first time, on 29-30 November 2025. The two-day event, with its theme, “Travel the World without Leaving Las Condes,” brought about 20 to 30 thousand people of all ages and backgrounds.

According to a statement of the Indonesian Embassy in Chile dated Thursday (12/4/2025) in Jakarta, Indonesia was among the 47 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, Europe, and Asia, which had booths and presented their culture, cuisine, handicrafts, and tourism. Mayor of Las Condes, Catalina San Martin, explained that the Festival of the Nations is an indication of their culture of welcoming and establishing communication with other countries across the globe.

Some local handicraft business exporters that Indonesia worked with included Nautilus and Amush, and a local Indonesian restaurant, the Nusantara Indonesia. The cultural products and foods of Indonesia were greatly accepted, and the businesses that were involved registered high profits at the time of the event.

The Indonesia Trade and Promotion Center (ITPC) and the Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) Santiago, an organization of wives of Indonesian civil servants, were also present at the booth of Indonesia. During the festival, visitors were exposed to gamelan performance by the Gamelan Sudakarta group, traditional Indonesian dances, and a Pencak Silat demonstration by the Pusaka Serak group.

A session on the introduction of Bahasa Indonesia with the title”Getting to know Indonesia by the language” also attracted the great attention of the people who attended.

The vibrant festival was received with great applause from the people who enjoyed the abundance of Indonesian culture and traditions. The presence of Indonesia in the Fiesta de las Naciones is likely to enhance the cultural promotion and people-to-people relations between the two nations further.
