The Kishtawar district of Jammu and Kashmir witnessed an encounter between terrorists and the Indian security forces, an unexpected breakout on Sunday was reported by officials.
The security forces launched a search operation in the hilly region of Dhool area following information of a terrorist leak inside the territory, the report from the officials referred.
An ongoing and longstanding tension in the India – Pakistan border results in several of such brief attacks between the bodies. While the search launched, the terrorists, two of them stuttered out of their hiding and opened fire at the security forces, leading to a gun fight.
Army’s White Knight Corps confirmed the encounter in an X post, which reported that the alert troops, while carrying out an intelligence-based operation, established contact with terrorists in the early hours on Sunday and exchanged gunfire.
