Community BBQ Brings Windsor Together and Raises £700

A summer BBQ at Castle View Windsor has raised £700 for Windsor Mencap. This is a charity that will support adults with learning disabilities.

The event, held at the retirement community, brought together Castle View homeowners, staff, and members of Windsor Mencap for an evening of food, fun, and conversation. A cheque was later presented in the garden of Windsor Mencap’s hub by Castle View’s event coordinator, Melanie Pyne.

Karl Hallows, CEO of LMS Retirement Living, said it was a joy to see the two communities come together: “Homeowners and Windsor Mencap members sat side by side, laughing and sharing a meal. It was wonderful to see those connections being made.”

He added that the event was not just about raising money but also about building friendships. “We’re proud to support Windsor Mencap, who provide such important services through advocacy, advice, and social activities. The donation will help them continue their work, which makes a real difference to families across Windsor.”

The evening, blessed with sunshine, included plenty of good food and warm company. Guests described it as a reminder of the value of community spirit.

Windsor Mencap chair Peter, vice-chair and club leader Stephanie, and several members of the charity attended the event. They expressed their gratitude for the donation and for the chance to spend time with the Castle View community.

Mr Hallows thanked everyone who came along, donated, or helped to organise the BBQ: “Your kindness has made a very real difference here in Windsor.”

The successful fundraiser showed how a simple gathering can bring people together while supporting a vital local cause.
