On Monday night, in the Bajaur district of the north-west province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, terrorists were about to carry out a suicide attack on a security checkpoint at the Melange area when security forces and the police were able to intercept the attack, according to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), which is the media wing of the Pakistan army.
The attackers wanted to compromise the check post security, but their malicious plans were soon and easily overcome by the presence of the alert and decisive action of the security forces in Pakistan. In a statement, the ISPR said, “our brave troops clearly fired at the fleeing Khwarij, killing twelve.”
The Pakistani army calls terrorists as “khwarij.”
One child was also killed, and eight other civilians, including seven children, were injured in the houses next door, according to local police.
“Four terrorists were also killed, and two police officers were injured when an anti-terrorism operation against the terrorists in the Pakistan port city Karachi was underway on Tuesday,” the interior minister stated.
Mohsin Naqvi said, “I appreciate the police and the security forces of all the countries and the fact that they succeed in their operations against terrorists and their accomplices.”
During the recent years, there have been heightened terrorist activities in Pakistan with bombings and terrorist attacks on security agencies, law enforcement bodies and installations of the government in the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the southwestern province of Balochistan.
In another strike against terrorists, at least three police officers had been killed in the Shangla district of the northwestern area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province earlier on Monday. The operation also led to the killing of two terrorists.
On Monday, also, in the Bannu district of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, one improvised explosive device went off, killing at least two people and injuring 17 others.
