Ben Shapiro, co-founder of conservative outlet The Daily Wire, is warning that “increasing” and “tremendously conspiratorial” elements of the right are increasingly becoming more and more powerful, thanks to social media.
Shapiro discussed with The Jerusalem Post on a recent visit to Israel, just after President Donald Trump announced the release of hostages and ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.
He cautioned in the interview that “a conspiratorial right is on the rise” in the U.S.
While left-wing hostility towards the Jewish State has been extensively documented, Shapiro stated, “There is a segment of the right that is hyper-conspiratorial and views Jews as a conspiratorial group.”
Shapiro contended that the social media reward structure “puts the most inflammatory, truth-free information, then rewards it as courageous truth-telling.
The Post stated that “In an ecosystem programmed to amplify the loudest voice, [Shapiro] is urging readers to hear something different.”
“Stop treating people who are sharing obvious lies as courageous for having shared them,” Shapiro stated, continuing, “Defend what’s worth defending. Change what must be changed. Refuse the lie. That is the work of free people.
