Ayatollah Alireza Arafi, Director of Iran’s Islamic Seminaries, visited the International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilization (ISTAC) in Kuala Lumpur during his academic and cultural trip to Malaysia.
At ISTAC, he met with institute officials and discussed possible cooperation in research and civilizational studies. Part of the International Islamic University Malaysia, ISTAC is one of the country’s leading centers for higher education in Islamic thought.
The institute was founded by Malaysian scholar Professor Syed Muhammad Naqib al-Attas. It is filled with a library, diverse faculty, an international student community, and strong global partnerships. So, ISTAC is becoming a key hub for Islamic intellectual and cultural studies.
The visit is showing the positive aspects of growing ties between Iran and Malaysia. Both of the nations are working to strengthen the academic and cultural ties; they are enhancing closer collaboration between universities, research institutions, and seminaries.
According to the International Quran News Agency, Malaysian Minister of Religious Affairs Muhammad Naeem Mukhtar said, “With 14 state muftis, Malaysia has a strong capacity in the religious field, and we welcome the expansion of Quranic cooperation between our country and Iran.”
