On Tuesday (Feb 24), the Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese had to vacate his office premises due to a security threat, according to the police.

Albanese had been evacuated from the Lodge, his government house in the capital, Canberra.

According to the threat reported by the national broadcaster ABC, Albanese was taken to an alternate place several hours before he came back after nothing was found to be suspicious.

The Australian Federal Police, in a statement, claimed that it had responded to “an alleged security incident” of around 6 pm (3 pm, Singapore time).

They claimed that “a comprehensive investigation of a protection facility had been made,” and they did not find anything that was suspicious or posed any direct danger to the community or security.

The office of the prime minister informed ABC that they have confidence in the police and “they appreciate their work.”
