New York Launches Free College Program For Adults Learners

Governor Hochul - SUNY Reconnect

A novel initiative has been announced by the New York State Governor Kathy Hochul to empower the adult learners by launching the free two-year community college degrees. SUNY Reconnect is the name of the program which is set to launch this fall and it is focused on providing access and quality education to the New York residents without any college degree who ages from 25 to 55. 

 

Based on the earlier program CUNY Reconnect program the new SUNY Reconnect has been introduced to support the adults who are interested to commence their education by returning back to school to learn or begin a new academic journey which are ideal in the highly demanding sectors such as – advanced manufacturing artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, engineering, green and renewable energy, nursing, health professions, teaching pathways, and technology-related disciplines. This program highlights the bridging of the education gap between the adults and the shortage of workforces in various industries across the state. And it focuses on high growth and essential career paths which aligns the higher education and the economic development goals of New York.
