The insurgency by the Baloch community has seen a massive increase in militant activities in the southwestern parts of Pakistan, with the separatist groups carrying out coordinated attacks on their territories, military installations, and troops. The tensions have been growing in recent events, with a conflict that has gripped the mineral-rich province since the 1980s.
The Baloch Liberation Army has taken up the role as the main planner of various major raids that have been carried out against the Pakistani security forces. Military briefings show that the militant group has carried out surgical strikes in Hoshab and Kolwah districts, which are strategically significant, and its tactics are advanced, inclusive of improvised explosions and direct armed fights.
According to security sources, the Baloch insurrection activities had left many Pakistani soldiers dead, with some five reported to have been killed during the confrontations. The attacks indicate the modernisation of separatist groups that work in the region.
Controversial Execution Sparks Security Concerns
The so-called Military Intelligence operative, identified as a man named Khizir, was publicly executed by the BLA in one of the most worrying developments that have cast a big doubt over how insurgents operate. According to the separatist group, their so-called Baloch National Court held a trial against the convicts after getting so-called confessions about intelligence operations in various districts.
The case illustrates the complicated character of Baloch insurgency, as there is a transformation of conventional guerrilla warfare to quasi-judicial proceedings. This turn of events is of great concern to security analysts since it implies that these insurgent groups are trying to set up parallel structures of government.
Balochistan Liberation Front Joins Offensive
BLF has stepped up criminal activities too, and this is as a result of two separate incidents where the organization took credit for attacking both the law enforcers as well as the businessmen. When the group operatives used a grenade attack on the Senior Superintendent of Police’s office in Khuzdar, they proved that they could attack the nucleus of the system of law enforcement.
Over and above, the BLF militants have hijacked a commercial convoy in Wadh near Habib Hotel, whereby the convoy had a truck that was transporting precious stones and they were heading to Karachi. The damage was severe to the engine and tires of the vehicle; however, there was no fatality during this attack.
