Members of Operation FANSAN YANMA suspected of being terrorists have been killed in the Yankuzo community of Tsafe Local Government Area (LGA), by Nigerian troops, in Zamfara State. 

A security expert in the Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama, on social media on 8th September, revealed this.

The operation happened on the evening of Sept., according to Makama, who quoted local sources. On 7, 2026, five military aircraft were reported to have performed a synchronised mission over the community.

The aircraft had been involved in a battle against suspected terrorists in the area, with several of the terrorists reportedly shot down, but the number of casualties could not be immediately determined, the report said.

Isiya Gurgu, close to a notorious bandit leader, Musa Commander, who is reportedly associated with the Ado Aleru network, was among the casualties, it is reported.

According to the report, Musa Commander is linked to several communities under the control of the terrorists, such as Tsamiya and others.

The security forces reportedly acted with prudence during the operation to avoid civilian casualties, and the clashes were reportedly aimed at those who were suspected of carrying weapons or wearing military-style uniforms.

Other suspects were also allegedly injured during the raid.

Yankuzo has been reported to have continued to be a focal point for armed groups associated with the infamous Ado Aleru network, and members of the community are reportedly being subjected to unrelenting threats from armed groups operating in and around the community.

More information about the casualties and the results of the operation are likely to follow as security authorities investigate the incident.
