The Romanian Ministry of National Defense has announced a military reservist mobilization exercise to take place in Bucharest and in neighbouring Ilfov county soon, according to a statement. The exercise, known as MOBEX Bucharest-Ilfov 26, aims to comprehensively evaluate the readiness of the population to defend the country, and will be held from October 5th and 12th.
In this period, the official call-up orders will be issued to selected reservists who live in Bucharest and Ilfov. These are the documents that are mandatory for them and will be delivered by the designated person from the Ministry of Internal Affairs personally.
Reservists must report to their units on the exact date stated in their orders and are not to be late for their units. They will attend an extensive 1 day training and evaluation activity when they arrive.
According to national legislation, it is obligatory for all passengers to take part in such readiness exercises. The defence evaluations are provided through the Romanian Legislation Portal (Law No. 446/2006) and are mandated for the reservists according to the Law when called up by the state.
Employers must support their reservist employees to ensure the process can be done seamlessly. Companies are required to provide employees that have been called up with one additional day of paid leave subject to the requirement that they present an official certificate issued by the military center relevant to them.
MOBEX readiness exercises are organised every year by the Government of Romania, with a number of 10 counties per year (typically). These essential drills help test the existing logistical and operational capabilities for replenishment of national defence structures with manpower and material resources.
The last mobilization in the region of Bucharest and Ilfov was done in 2025. That particular one only included some of the military units in the region to allow the rest of the social and economic effects over the capital region to be contained.
Therefore, there will be no attempt to assess the other military units which were not assessed last year in the drills this year.
Both Defense authorities and the President of Romania have pointed out that the maneuvers are routine exercises. In the backdrop of the broader regional security environment, the authorities call on the public to only use official information sources and to be mindful of any information which may be potentially misleading or false information about the exercise.
