According to Qazinform News Agency from the Kazakh Ministry of Culture and Information, Kazakhstan is getting ready to participate in the 2027 Smithsonian Folklife Festival, presenting the country’s traditions, music, crafts, and other aspects of its cultural heritage.

Preparation matters were discussed at a meeting with Aida Balayeva, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan, and the Smithsonian Institution Festival Curator, Rebecca Fenton, and Bryan Rafael Falcon, Co-Founder of the Southwest Folklife Alliance.

The sides also talked about the participation of Kazakhstan’s ethno-folk group HasSak in a festival in the city of Tucson and plans to hold a concert in Washington.

The 2027 Smithsonian Folklife Festival is one of several initiatives to foster cultural exchange between the Smithsonian Institution and Kazakhstan. Both sides were confident that their collaboration would become more dynamic and extend beyond single cultural projects to long-term projects.
