Türkiye has officially asked INTERPOL to issue a red notice for Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. This is an international request, linked to a case of prosecution over a military attack on a Global Sumud Flotilla which sought to bring humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.

The Justice Minister Akin Gurler of Turkey confirmed the development, saying that trials are underway at the 11th High Criminal Court in Istanbul. The current case involves 35 defendants, and is being investigated extensively against Netanyahu and Afek Moskovitch for the interception of the humanitarian vessels in international waters.

On July 14, 2026, the Turkish Ministry of Justice formally submitted a request to the Ministry of Interior, requesting that the international red notices be followed up on both suspects. Gurlek also said that all the relevant legal documents have been sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to coordinate the overall diplomatic and legal process.

The prosecution is based mainly on alleged acts during the armed campaign against civilians providing essential assistance. The wide-ranging accusations against the man in charge of Israel’s Prime Minister’s Office, and his co-defendants, include genocide, torture, intentional injury and crimes against humanity.

Also, defendants are charged with: aggravated deprivation of liberty, aggravated property damage, aggravated robbery and hijacking of means of transportation. Justice Minister Gurlek said the government would “firmly” pursue all options within the country and internationally to keep these acts from enjoying a “blanket of impunity.

The latest move is part of a series of steps that the Turkish Government have taken. The previous arrest warrants were issued in November 2025 for Netanyahu and other people. The warrants are the result of a major probe into systematic attacks on civilians and allegedly continued genocide in the Gaza Strip.
