The Russian army has been shelling Kharkiv and 11 other settlements in the region with heavy fire over the last 24 hours. The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine reports on the intelligence and situational reports received that the attack involved heavier artillery, a missile, guided aerial bombs, and more than 20 UAVs. Local authorities are still working to assess the widespread damage in civilian areas, with seven people injured in the widespread strikes, including a young child.
The official Kharkiv Regional State Administration head Oleh Syniehubov has acknowledged the civilian casualties. There, an 18-year-old male and a nine-year-old boy sustained physical injuries, and two women (ages 54 and 77) and two men (ages 71 and 57) were treated for acute stress reactions. Also, one 28-year-old man was hurt in the town of Zolochiv, and a 15-year-old boy was injured earlier in the village of Vesele in Lozova community who got delayed medical aid.
The intensity of the air attacks seriously affected several districts and led to urgent actions by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine to combat fires and structural damage. Russian troops fired several fire rockets, a missile, two guided aerial bombs, three Molniya-type drones, and 77 drones of an unspecified type. Drones were specifically targeted at the Industrialnyi district of Kharkiv, where there was significant damage to a gas station.
The Government of Ukraine still refers to the targeted attack on non-combatants as the destruction of civilian infrastructure, residential properties, and vehicles in several other districts. There, strikes damaged a warehouse in Kolomak and a vehicle in Zolochiv in the Bohodukhiv district. In Izium district, private houses and power lines were damaged in great numbers; in Husarivka, 2 houses and power lines were damaged; in Verbivka, 1 house, outbuilding, and vehicles were damaged; in Izium, 5 private houses were damaged. The same was seen in the Lozova district: an educational building in Zlatopil and a gas station in Blyzniuky were attacked, as well as a private house in Chuhuiv district village of Buhaivka.
Regional evacuation is a key priority in the activities of local authorities and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, as the bombardment continues. This was only in Lozova’s main transit evacuation center, where 286 displaced civilians were received in one day. A total of 53,163 people have been officially registered and assisted at the centre since the centre started operating to protect citizens from the escalating violence.
