The Korean Cultural Centre (KCC) in the Philippines has just started the Korean Film Festival 2026, which includes film screenings, the Korean Student Film Competition, and Korean Webtoon events.

The festival, which is titled K-Story: Stories that Move Us, has three main activities, from August to October.

43 entries from Filipino student filmmakers took part in the Student Short Film Competition from 12 Jan. to June 30, under the theme “Kwentong Korea.” The short film “When Love Met a Language” came away with the first prize, and the filmmakers are to attend the Busan International Film Festival in South Korea in October of 2026.

Lee Younchang, a Korean webtoon artist, along with Filipino graphic novelist Arnold Arre, will be participating in a talkback Q&A session on Aug. 6 at Cinematheque Centre Manila as part of the festival. On Aug. 7, Lee will also hold a webtoon workshop at the Metropolitan Museum of Manila.

The film screenings at the festival will also be held at SM Cinema at the SM Mall of Asia, SM North EDSA, SM City Iloilo and SM Lanang from Aug. 7 to 9.

There are the Korean films “Your Letter,” “Love in the Big City,” “My Daughter is a Zombie,” “Omniscient Reader” and “Yumi’s Cells: The Movie.”
