On duty air defense systems successfully shot down and destroyed 242 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones across various regions of Russia over the past day, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation said. The sweeping attacks targeted several areas, including the Belgorod, Bryansk, Kaluga, Kursk, Leningrad, Novgorod, Oryol, Pskov, Rostov, Ryazan, Smolensk, Tver, Tula, Moscow, Krasnodar, and Stavropol regions, as well as Crimea and the surrounding seas.

The logistics hubs in Krasnodar and Nevinnomyssk, both in the south, were the direct targets of the strikes, confirmed ecommerce giant Wildberries‘ founder, Tatyana Kim, in a Telegram message. She said that the company is actively cooperating with the relevant authorities to deal with the aftermath of the incidents.

Regional Damage, Casualties, and Emergency Response

The mayor of the Krasnodar Region, Veniamin Kondratyev, confirmed that one person was killed and ten others injured in the large-scale drone attack, which hit the region particularly hard. The killed was working at an industrial company in Armavir, while a drone attack also caused a serious fire at an oil depot in the city.

Drone debris in the city of Krasnodar caused injuries to ten people when it crashed into a warehouse. Four of the victims were taken for urgent hospitalisation, three of whom are in serious condition, and six were given outpatient care, according to the Krasnodar City Administration. Other falling debris broke out windows and damaged the infrastructure, hitting two apartment complexes, a garage complex and two private homes in close vicinity to the settlement of Dinskaya.

Governor Vladimir Vladimirov in Stavropol Region declared a local state of emergency in the city of Nevinnomyssk. The decision was made in the wake of a drone strike which caused a huge fire at a warehouse in the city’s outskirts, leading to five people requiring medical help.

Widespread recovery and fire-fighting activities are still underway. A helicopter was also dispatched by the regional crisis center along with more than 100 personnel and 37 units of emergency equipment from the Ministry of Emergency Situations to put out the fire in the warehouse in Krasnodar.

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has officially opened the criminal case under Article 205 of the Russian Criminal Code against the strikes on the logistics centers, the attacks considered to be an act of terrorism following the overnight events. Investigators are on the scene and are gathering evidence to determine how the attacks came about, said Spokesperson Svetlana Petrenko.
