At the Awan Cerah photography exhibition at Taman Ismail Marzuki, Jakarta, visitors look at photographs (July 16). 

The exhibition runs until 1st August, and displays 1,143 photographs by children and teenagers from all over Indonesia. The images provide intimate, vivid and meaningful depictions of the country’s rich cultural heritage through their eyes.

Under the theme “Young Voices, Rich Culture,” the exhibition offers a forum for expression as children capture and share their culture. It is also expected to increase children’s and adolescents’ appreciation of Indonesia’s cultural heritage and encourage children’s creativity through photography.

More than a thousand photographs have been assembled, which prove that the love for culture can be cultivated and nurtured from a young age and can also make the younger generation look at Indonesia through their eyes.

The Awan Cerah 2026 exhibition is not just about photography but also aims to make children and youth realise through images the importance of understanding, appreciating and preserving Indonesia’s cultural heritage.
