While presiding over the 34th Kangla Board meeting in Imphal on Friday, July 3rd, the Chief Minister of Manipur Y. Khemchand Singh reaffirmed his government’s commitment towards protecting the cultural heritage of Manipur.

After leaving behind the Arts and Culture Minister Kh. Loken Singh along with other officials of the Board, studied the different developmental projects in the historic Kangla Fort with particular attention to the preservation of its cultural and historical heritage.

The chief minister said the discussions were held about undertaking development works without affecting the fort’s heritage value, adding the update to social media.

Singh said that the Government is unwavering in its efforts towards conserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Manipur to benefit future generations.

The Kangla Board is a statutory body constituted under the auspices of the Government of India, for the administration, maintenance and preservation of the Kangla Fort in Manipur, which was the ancient political and cultural centre of the erstwhile Manipur kingdom.

The state government stated that future plans for developing the historic site will be carried out while at the same time making efforts to preserve its archaeological and cultural heritage for generations to come.
