Deadly Floods in Kenya Claim 62 Lives, Police Confirm

Since heavy rains and flooding struck the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, and other regions late last week, it has claimed the lives of 62 people, with eight children being among the affected, the police told the country on 14th March.

 

The worst affected was the capital with 33 deaths, the force told it on X that revised the official number of dead.

It added that more than 2,000 families have been displaced in 7 Kenyan regions, and severe rain was still falling in the areas.

Last Saturday, aid workers began retrieving bodies from floodwaters ― in Nairobi, dozens of cars were lost by overnight flash floods and disrupted flights at the largest airport in East Africa.

A tally of this issue, published last Sunday, brought the number of the dead to 42.
