The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has reasserted its willingness to support Bangladesh in all manners.
This was assured on 12th March when Maxym Kryshko, resident representative of the IMF in Bangladesh, paid a courtesy visit to Bangladesh Bank Governor Md Mostaqur Rahman at the central bank headquarters in Bangladesh.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Governor Md Habibur Rahman.
Kryshko went ahead and congratulated the governor in the discussion and stated that the IMF would be interested in working closely with the newly elected political government, which has been established following the recent national election.
He claimed that the IMF is eager to cooperate with Bangladesh in macroeconomic stability and reforms in the financial sectors under the new administration.
According to central bank sources, the meeting also addressed the continued economic programmes that were being financed by the IMF.
The IMF resident representative stated that the world lender would still offer technical and financial support in order to enable Bangladesh to deal with its economic problems.
The Bangladesh bank governor appreciated the fact that the IMF was still cooperating, and he hoped that the collaboration between the central bank and the IMF would continue to enhance the financial structure of the country in the days to come.
