Dutch airline KLM has decided to restart flights to the Middle East after briefly stopping services due to rising tensions in the region.
The airline said it will resume flights to Tel Aviv, as well as to destinations in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
Last week, KLM had planned to restart flights to Israel but quickly changed its decision. The airline said the move was due to security concerns and the need to avoid certain airspaces.
KLM has now updated its schedule. Flights to Tel Aviv will operate on February 2 and 3 with a revised timetable. Flights to Dubai will run from February 1 to 6. Services to Saudi cities, including Riyadh and Dammam, have also restarted.
Other European airlines are still being cautious. Spain’s Iberia Express has extended its suspension of night flights to Israel until February 6. It is operating only one daytime flight between Madrid and Tel Aviv.
The Lufthansa Group has also extended its night flight cancellations until February 3. Some flights have been shifted to daytime hours. The group said it will continue to avoid flying over Iran and Iraq for now.
