Syrian Army Launches Major Operation Against YPG-Linked SDF in Aleppo Province

The Syrian Army conducts the operation against the SDF controlled by the YPG terrorist group in the city of Aleppo completely, and the developments are observed, the Turkish Ministry of National Defence announced on Thursday.

In a statement, the ministry said: “Syria is our security and things are being taken to watch.”

“Our nation is in favour of extending Syria in its struggle against the terrorist organisations in the background of its unity and territorial integrity. Turkiye will be able to offer them the required support in case Syria demands it.”

The branch of the terrorist group, which operates under the name of SDF, is the terrorist PKK in Syria.

Syrian media reported that the group fired at the residential neighbourhoods in northern Aleppo on the third day in a row on Thursday.

Attack on civilian areas

It was the most recent shelling in the series of SDF attacks that have already taken the lives of at least six people and injured 39 others.

The Syrian estimates show that over 3,000 civilians have been displaced by the attacks.

The unrest compelled the provincial government in the city of Aleppo to prolong the suspension of classes in both the public and private schools and universities in the city on Thursday.

The Syrian presidency declared the signing of an agreement on the integration of the SDF into the institutions of the state on March 10, 2025, which reestablished territorial integrity in the country and rejected any other efforts to partition it.

According to the Syrian authorities, in the months since, SDF has not been seen to make any efforts to fulfill the conditions of the agreement.

The Syrian government is now working harder to ensure security in the country since the overthrow of the Bashar al-Assad government on December 8, 2024, 24 years after his rule.
