The special forces of Ukraine announced that on 12th December, they carried out an attack with what they referred to as a local resistance movement in the goal of striking down two Russian vessels that were carrying weapons and military equipment in the Caspian Sea.
They failed to indicate the time of the strike. On Thursday, a Ukrainian official was quoted as saying that Kyiv had struck a Russian oil rig in the Caspian Sea using its drones, the first such strike since Russian oil and gas is extracted using approximately 20 wells.
The statement released by the special forces on Telegram did not mention how they had struck the boats or how much damage they had caused. According to them, they had been struck by the ships off the coast of the Republic of Kalmykia, in Russia.
They gave names to the ships Rakhmaninoff the Composer and Askar-Sarydzha, which they claimed were authorized by the US to transport military goods between Iran and Russia. According to the statement, the “Black Spark” resistance had given comprehensive information on the movement and cargo of the ships.
